Bartholomaeberg is a municipality in Austria in Vorarlberg in the district of Bludenz. Bartholomaeberg is located in Montafon in the westernmost province of Austria, Vorarlberg.

Culture and sights

The parish church of Bartholomaeberg in a cemetery on a terrain level at 1000 m above sea level with a remarkable view to the Rätikon and the Silvretta is a richly furnished baroque church with a remarkable baroque organ, a gothic sacristy and a gothic winged altar as a former high altar and a Romanesque Vortragekreuz from Limoges around 1150.
The curacy church Innerberg in Innerberg stands in the middle of the cemetery. The foundation stone was laid in 1791. The master builder was Josef Vonier from Schruns, who also created the dome of the Bartholomaeberg church. The church was consecrated on July 4, 1820. The altarpiece of the high altar shows the Immaculata, her head crowned with roses, painted in 1869 by the Schruns artist Franz Bertle (1828-1883). Since 1993, the left side altar has contained a valuable Gothic Madonna from around 1500, the original version of which was painstakingly uncovered by the restorer Konrad Honold. One of the most beautiful pieces of the church is the splendidly gilded and marbled pulpit with the portraits of the four evangelists John, Mark, Luke and Matthew. The last major renovation took place between 1991 and 1993 on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the church.
The parish church of Gantschier as a church building of the modern age stands in the valley bottom in Gantschier and was elevated in 2013 by Bishop Benno Elbs to the 126th parish church of the Diocese of Feldkirch. At the parish elevation ceremony, the acquired organ was consecrated.
The Museum Frühmesshaus Bartholomaeberg was opened in 2009. The old Frühmesshaus in Bartholomaeberg, which dates back to 1657, is one of the oldest buildings in the valley and was adapted for museum purposes. Initially, the house was shown as it was left by its last owner. Visitors thus had the opportunity to participate in a museum development process in the years that followed.
