Zauchensee is a district of the Austrian market town of Altenmarkt im Pongau. The Zauch, as the Salzburg valley is called in the Pongau dialect, is known for its winter sports area and as a venue for the Ski World Cup. The district got its name from the lake of the same name at the southern end of the valley. The valley is part of the cadastral municipality of Palfen, which was incorporated into Altenmarkt on January 1, 1936. Altenmarkt im Pongau is a market town in the Austrian province of Salzburg.

Altenmarkt Museum of Local History, north of the parish church on Brunnbauerngasse 1: The Hoamathaus was built in 1408, and served as accommodation for the miners who mined the ore. Later it was converted into a home for the elderly and was given the name Bruderhaus. When a new old people's home was built in 1970, the local history museum was established here, with representations of life in Altenmarkt over 100 years ago. The showpiece of the museum is the 250 year old Grundner crib.
