St. Georgen am Reith (also Sankt Georgen am Reith) is an Austrian municipality with 537 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2022) in the district of Amstetten in Lower Austria. St. Georgen am Reith is a municipality of the Ybbstaler Alpen in the Upper Ybbstal, which is part of the Lower Austrian Iron Road in the Mostviertel region of Lower Austria.
Culture and sights
Parish Church of St. Georgen am Reith: built around 1500, Gothic. The interior is decorated in late Gothic style. Remarkable mask relief on the tower - probably from the Celtic period.
Jagdschloss: a hunting lodge is located at the edge of the forest, in the middle of a park of more than 10,000 m². The castle is privately owned and was formerly a hotel.
Dükerbrücke: The pipe bridge (40-meter span; construction began in 1922) is used to cross the Ybbs River and carries water to the Opponitz power plant, which is owned by the City of Vienna.
Recreation and sports
Hiking and biking trails: Hikers and bikers will find an extensive, well-marked network of trails in unspoiled countryside in the immediate and wider surroundings of St. Georgen am Reith. The Ybbstal cycle path leads through the municipal area.
