Maissau is an Austrian municipality with 1966 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2022) in the district of Hollabrunn in Lower Austria. Maissau is located at the transition from the Weinviertel to the Waldviertel on the eastern slope of the Manhartsberg.
Culture and sights
Maissau Castle: The castle, which was first mentioned in a document in 1122, is now used privately and can only be visited from the outside.
Amethyst World Maissau: The largest amethyst deposit in Europe is located in Maissau. An exposed amethyst passage can be visited here.
