Kaprun is a municipality in the district of Zell am See in the Austrian state of Salzburg. Together with the city of Zell am See, the municipality is known as the vacation destination Zell am See-Kaprun. The community received international attention due to the fire disaster of the Gletscherbahn Kaprun 2 in 2000 and the subsequent court case. Kaprun is located at the foot of the Hohe Tauern in the area of the Glockner Group.
