Gschnitz is a municipality with 447 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2022) and a village in the district of Innsbruck-Land in Tyrol (Austria). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Innsbruck. Gschnitz is located in the rear part of the Gschnitz Valley, which flows into the Wipp Valley near Steinach am Brenner. The municipal area extends to the head of the valley (with the 3277 m high Habicht) and forms the border with South Tyrol (Italy) in the south.

The municipality of Gschnitz belongs to the association area of the Wipptal Tourism Association. Since May 2019 Gschnitz belongs with the neighboring community Trins to the circle of mountaineering villages of the Austrian Alpine Club. In addition to the only hotel (Hotel Kirchdach), there are two inns (Feuerstein, Alpenrose) and the Laponesalm at the head of the valley, which can be reached on foot or by hut cab.
