Parz Castle, with its important exterior frescoes, is one of the most stately Renaissance castles in Upper Austria and forms a cohesive ensemble with the adjoining Parz moated castle. About 400 years ago, the southern façade of the castle was decorated with extensive frescoes, which until a few years ago were covered over by baroque paint and were only discovered in 1987 during renovation work. It is the largest cycle of exterior Renaissance frescoes north of the Alps preserved in the original. In 2010, Parz Castle hosted the provincial exhibition Renaissance and Reformation.
