Freinberg is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Schärding in the Innviertel with 1475 inhabitants. Freinberg lies at an altitude of around 450 m
a hill directly above the three-river town of Passau. Since the founding of the Duchy of Bavaria, the village was Bavarian until 1779 and came
to Austria after the Peace of Teschen with the Innviertel (then 'Innbaiern').
