Wald am Schoberpaß is a municipality in the north of Styria (jurisdiction or district of Leoben), about 40 km west of the district capital Leoben. Wald am Schoberpaß is located on the Schober Pass between the Niedere Tauern and the Eisenerzer Alps. The pass separates the catchment areas of the Palten, which drains to the Enns, and the Liesing, whose waters flow into the Mur.

Culture and sights

The Lutheran parish, founded in 1795, is the third Styrian tolerance parish. In 1784 a first prayer house was built, in 1829 the present Lutheran parish church was erected and in 1849 the tower was added and consecrated with its three bells on July 21, 1850.
