Local history and foundation museum: The museum has been housed in the historic elementary school of the village since 1992. Since 2005, the upper floor has been dedicated to the regional poet Adalbert Stifter, who has several references to Schwarzenberg. Since its inception, the museum has been managed by the Schwarzenberg Cultural Ring, which, however, announced its dissolution in 2018.
Stifter's birthplace in Oberplan is only about 20 km from Schwarzenberg.
Stifter liked to stop at the village's inn between 1855 and 1866 when passing through on his spa visits to Lackenhäuser.
During Stifter's tenure, the old school building was raised. As a display board in the museum shows, the Schwarzenberg school was one of about 100 schools that were newly built, expanded or established by adapting existing buildings under Adalbert Stifter's leadership.
Sculpture Park and the "Art of Vacation": From 1992 to 1997, the international wood sculpture symposium "Grenzgänger" [7] took place in Schwarzenberg, which was organized by the State of Upper Austria. (Office for Cultural Foreign Relations) under the leadership of Aldemar Schiffkorn. Several sculptures resulted from this time, which were set up in the local area of Schwarzenberg and formed a sculpture park. From 1998 on, the municipality of Schwarzenberg independently organized an art and culture program based on this, which was organized in cooperation with the Institute for Cultural Economy of the University of Linz and operated under the label "Art of Vacation" [8]. There were sculpture symposia with "artists in residence" and various offers of art activities and workshops. The program took place three times (1998-2000) until it was discontinued in 2001 due to the lack of tourist demand and the discontinuation of the subsidy by the state of Upper Austria. Nevertheless, the concept won the Maecenas Prize for cultural sponsorship in 1998 and the Austrian Municipal Innovation Prize in 2000.
