Mitterbach am Erlaufsee is a municipality with 482 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2022) in the district of Lilienfeld in Lower Austria. Mitterbach am Erlaufsee is located at the southeastern foot of the Ötscher mountain in the southern Mostviertel region of Lower Austria. The village of Mitterbach itself borders directly on Styria; only about five kilometers further south is Mariazell.
