Patergassen is a village in the municipality of Reichenau in Carinthia (cadastral municipality of St. Margarethen).

The village is located at 1015 m above sea level in the bottom of the upper Gurktal, at the junction of the Kleinkirchheimer Straße (B 88) with the Turracher Straße (B 95). In Patergassen there is a kindergarten and a secondary school. The police station for the community as well as a rescue station of the Johanniter for the communities of Reichenau, Gnesau and Bad Kleinkirchheim are also located in the village.
